Papini (Ire)
A chestnut gelding by the 2004 6th highest rated British
and Irish Sire Lomitas. A
fantastically bred individual that is a very progressive and forward
type with huge amounts of potential. A seriously impressive debut National
Hunt season notching up 2 wins and 2 places from 5 starts. His 3rd season
started with a bang - winning by 2 1/2 lengths in a competitive
Handicap Hurdle Race at Haydock on 1st November 2006. Papini followed this up with a jaw droppingly impressive win at Sandown on
6th January 2007 in a £50,000 Handicap Hurdle Race on bottomless ground. Papini thrilled his
owners by running in both the prestigious Totesport Trophy at Newbury
and then The County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival on Gold Cup Day. Sadly NewROG lost Papini in February 2008 to a fracture sustained when he became cast in his box. Papini owed NewROG nothing, providing us with days racing at the big tracks, at the big meetings and in the big races not forgetting all the trips to the Winners’ Enclosure. His record proves it all: 18 National Hunt runs, 5 Wins, 6 Places and notching up a total of just over £68,000 in prize money. He was our wonder horse, farewell lovely ‘Ini’.
Kyper
Disco (Fr)
A bay gelding by Epervier Blue, sold at the
August 2006 Doncaster Bloodstock Sales to the North Yorkshire based trainer
H Hogarth for 11,000 Gns.
Diamond
Monroe (Ire)
A chestnut gelding by Treasure
Hunter. A staying sort who favoured quick ground and a prominent
front-running position. WINNER in a 3 mile Handicap Hurdle
(7 races: 1 win, 4 places). After much thought Diamond Monroe was sold at auction
in August 2004 by NewROG and is now trained in the north by Chris Grant.
Chapeltown
(Ire)
A
bay gelding by Denel (Fr). The highest rated novice
hurdler during 2000-2001 season and the course recorder holder at Newbury
for 2 miles 3 furlongs (hurdles). A seriously professional horse having
been placed in 8 out of his 11 British races (including 5 WINS). Sadly
we lost Chapeltown to a serious tendon injury in May 2004 after his
impressive and very brave win at Hereford.
Flat
Pommes
Frites
A 3-year-old bay filly by the top 2-year-old sire, Bertolini. The lease expired
at the end of October 2006.
Cesar Manrique (Ire)
A striking
3-year-old chestnut colt by the French Guineas winner Vettori;
proven after winning 5f maiden at Bath in October 2004. Cesar had a very encouraging first run of the season in April at Newmarket
(Racing Post Race Analysis - "Cesar Manrique also caught
the eye .... staying on when the race was all over. There are good races
to be won with him.") but sadly after that showed nothing and NewROG
decided to end its lease with Cesar at the end of October 2005.
Blaze The Trail
A 3-year-old pretty bay filly by 1995
St Ledger winner Classic Cliché (Ire). A large, powerful
type who needed a cut in the ground and a decent trip. Only leased for
the season by the syndicate, Blaze was sent back to her owner/breeder
at the start of November after sadly not producing any wins for us.
