Nicky Henderson

Nicky Henderson is at the forefront of National Hunt racing and boasts of 31 Cheltenham Festival winners including two Stayers' Hurdles and three Champion Hurdles, as well as four Tote Gold Cup winners at Newbury and numerous other prestigious races. Nicky now has the honour of training for HM Queen Elizabeth II, including First Love, who won at Folkestone; the first time in her reign that the royal colours have been in the Winners' Enclosure.

Nicky rode as an amateur for six years and rode 75 winners including the Imperial Cup and the Foxhunters Chase at Liverpool. He was assistant to the legendary Fred Winter from 1974 to 1978. in 1978 he first took out a trainer's licence and trained from Windsor House in Lambourn. He moved to Seven Barrows in 1990 where the facilities are exemplary with his own all-weather and beautiful grass gallops.

He has trained over 1000 winners and has had many excellent horses through his hands including past stars such as See You Then, The Tsarevich and Remittance Man, and more recent stars such as Marlborough, the late Bacchanal, Isio, Landing Light, Geos and Fordmont to name but a few. Nicky has three daughters, Sarah, Tessa and Camilla.
